Huzzah its half term and time to get out and about with the family. Here’s my run down on my top 5 suggestions for this Easter hols!
Roarr Dinosaur Adventure – For the Brave Ones!
As a multi-year season ticket holder I have thoroughly tested this one, the staff are excellent, so are the facilities and there’s soooo much to do from the extensive indoor and outdoor play to the dinosaur trail and farmyard friends. From the 29th to the 15th of April there’s even more to do with cracking activities (see what I did there) and fun events and I would imagine an egg-tra special Easter trail (I’ll stop with the puns now) as the park is transformed into an Alice in Wonderland theme. Adult tickets are about £15 and children a couple of quid more but you get a whole lot of fun for this and there’s no hidden extras really once your in!
BeWILDerwood – For the Adventurous Ones!
I visited here just a few weeks back for Mother’s Day and it just keeps getting better. The boy is 5 now so an ideal age for the Twiggles and Boggles in this curious treehouse adventure land but older kids… ahem …..and adults love it too as its so inclusive, they really do get you all involved – which really speaks to my inner show off. From the free face paint to kids vs parents challenges on the zip line you are bound to have some real quality time with your family – unlike at the various soft play areas where you end up lost in your phone before realising that’s your kid screaming upside down in the netting! This Easter they welcome Cedric the Easter Bunny. You can explore his home and meet the furry one himself, he may even have a chocolatey treat. They have also got heaps of other Easter activities like Boggle bunny ear crafts in the big hat and the terrific tale of the pesky bunnies at the storytelling stage. Tots Town – For the Tiny Ones!
I haven’t been here for a while as The Boy is a little older, but now Wilba is 18 months shes old enough to love this family run business as much as I do. The moment you walk in you really get the sense that the owners and staff really care and believe in the power of play and learning through play. Tots Town near Norwich is an interactive play center based around a child sized town – Think supermarkets, cafe, doctors surgery and the boys favorite was the theatre stacked with dressing up clothes for every occasion. Play sessions are run at fixed times and fill up quickly so advanced booking is essential all can be done on their web page www.tots-town.co.uk.
Norwich Castle Museum CSI – For the Curious Ones!
I visited the castle as a child but hadn’t returned until this year as I didn’t think it was suitable for my younger ones, however now the boy is 5 hes getting into it a bit more. I definitely recommend this one for the over 5’s more but if you’ve got a fair spread of ages in your family there’s plenty to see. This Easter though they are holding a special event which I think sounds ace… a castle CSI – where you follow their crime trail, feel the death head bumps, sit in judgement with Judge Childers, detour along the prisoners secret tunnel and visit the dungeons. I’m gutted as the dungeons were closed last time I went so you may even see me there too… just hope they let me out. Visit museums.norfolk.gov.uk to find out more.
Sticky Earth Cafe – For the Arty Ones!
If you follow any of my social media feeds you know how much I love Cromer but even the most hardened Norfolk spud like me can need a cuppa and a sit down if the weather turns too nasty. Sticky Earth Cafe is located at the top of the town in Cromer, and is home to all things pottery, painting and crafty, plus also does a mean iced frapperchino thingy! As well as pottery painting there’s deco-patch, tshirt printing and even canvas painting for you very clever people you! The staff are so friendly and warm and it’s so relaxed – even the kids seem to quieten down as they concentrate on their masterpieces. After painting why not take a romp on the beach, throw some stones and check out the rock pools before a fish and chip supper from Mary Jane’s. Boom… no cooking or washing up required.
