Big Fish Little Fish Family Rave

The family that raves together….
I missed Big Fish Little Fish at Camp Bestival and again at Boomtown last year. So I was over the moon when Dave got in contact with me to say they were coming to Norwich. Held at the fantastic Epic Studios, which is fast becoming one of my favourite venues in Norwich the whole family was interested to see what the buzz was all about.
Rave-On
Big Fish little Fish is more than just a kids’ disco on a Sunday afternoon. It’s a sensory explosion! Since it began in 2013, Big Fish Little Fish have brought raving to the family massive. An independent, grassroots music and events crew of seasoned ravers and parents that put on family raves with all the freedom and excitement of a mini-festival, right in the heart of cities and towns across the UK.
Music & More
You can see why they have won the ‘fantastic for families’ best family event for the last 5 years running. Its bloomin awesome not only are you treated to world class DJ’s who know how to create a set that’s nostalgic but also feels fresh.  You are immersed in fantastic lighting (minus the strobes) giant balloons, confetti cannons, parachute dance, bubble machines, stilt walker, snow machine and a very talented Gyro dancer. Skillfully delivered throughout the 2hr performance so there was always something going on. The spiral balloons were a big hit with my three and the organisers made sure all the kids got one and had some spares for the inevitable.
Big Fish Little Fish
Something for all
If that wasn’t enough there’s also less noisy activities going on at the back of the venue. We made clubbing crowns on the long craft table which was frequently replenished and staffed by a lovely lady who was more than willing to help. Wilba would not leave the glitter play-doh stand for ages and in the end Andy took up refuge next to the mural drawing wall and did a bit of cheeky colouring himself. For the real tots there was a carpeted area with tents and tunnels and for just four pounds you could have your face painted by filigree.
Refreshments
All that dancing made us a bit peckish. A wonderful bakery called Cakes from the Hart created some amazing cakes and themed biscuits at reasonable prices. Which was lucky since Wilba had squidged her fingers in three of the pound biscuits before we could intervene, there goes my diet again. There’s also the club bar which was serving alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages at the usual price points.
Big Fish Little Fish

Gutted you missed it? Don’t fear! Big Fish Little Fish will be returning to Norwich for another award winning family rave on March 8th with the godfather of rave DJ Slipmatt (SL2). He will be taking to the stage alongside live Percussionist Paul Fist-Funk Crowley who was just amazing and played for the majority of the 2 hr set. Plus this time there’s a theme… ‘Once upon a time’ (Fancy dress optional but encouraged). More info is available on there facebook page or click here to go get your tickets!

See you there Crumblers!
