Spring has sprung and Wroxham Barns is Baa-ck for another fantastic Season. As we ease out of lockdown its feels like a new beginning, echoed by all the new life at the farm. Wroxham barns is a family run Business in the heart of the Norfolk broads. The family favourite includes a family fun park, junior farm and retail courtyard.
Spring Lambs
Wroxham barns have a great social media presence and I’ve been enjoying the Lambing updates all week. The kids were really excited to go Sunday as we had heard 2 herdwicks had been born at midnight. When we arrived we had a double surprise waiting for us, TWINS! Born at 8am that very morning. We even got to see them grapple with their first feed. Serious cuteness overload.
On the Farm
It wasn’t just the lambs that had us brooding. Selena Goatmez has had two beautiful kids who were just as entertaining and friendly as their famous mum. The pigs were fast asleep when we visited but Cookie the pony came to see us at the gate before we visted the Donkeys. We admired one crows cheekiness as he made off with the donkeys old fur for its nest. He didn’t seem to mind – it looked like a donkey spa. We visited the chicken next and tried our luck at the nesting boxes. I’m determined to find an egg (which can be purchased) on one of my trips, you have to be mighty quick they are so fresh they literally fly out!
Shopping therapy
After visiting the animals Andy and I made a B-line for the retail courtyard. The unique shopping experience is open daily weekdays as well as weekends and is free to visit along with the courtyard Cafe. There’s a pottery painting workshop, gallery, wood crafts and even a Christmas shop – open all year round. One of my favourite reasons for visiting in addition to the cider shop of course, is the weekly pop up shops. The vendors change every week and can be anything from professional photo sittings to handmade homewares. Don’t forget there’s also a very popular clothing boutique ‘Gallery Clothing’ upstairs in the gallery craft shop. Its Norfolk’s premier Robell clothing retailer.
Fun Park
The covid friendly fun park is now included in the admission price. Unlimted rides, crazy golf and 6 balloons per child on the newest addition – Water Wars. My two would happily jump all day on the inflatable pillows or pedal powered go karts. But Bo insisted on queueing up multiple times for the flying pirate ships and train ride. I dominated on the crazy golf course, only to be surpassed by a fluke hole in one from Nanny Windy. Ahhh well, you win some you ………..get cheated out of others Grrrrrrrr. Time for a picnic lunch in the heated tent or large open green space next to the park.
Value for Money
Wroxham barns farm and fun park are currently open weekends and school holidays until 5pm. A day ticket will set you back just £8.99 at the moment. Amazing value if you ask me. The park is a great size for little legs and the rides geared up to younger families. Don’t forget to book you’re ticket and entry time online before you visit. If you are just heading to the shops or the courtyard cafe, I suggest going weekdays when its quieter. I could easily spend a whole afternoon browsing the beautiful gifts and trinkets before grabbing a cooked to order pizza from the courtyard cafe.
Summer Holidays are coming
Wroxham barns success could be attributed to its many events. We’ve enjoyed Halloween, Christmas to meet the elves and will think twice about attending traditional firework displays after the Wroxham barns’ No bang first work display in October last year. It literally blew us away. This year Wroxham barns ‘Does’ Camping weekends and not just any camping weekends these are going to be ‘If Carlsberg did camping weekends’. Jam packed with fun activities and VIP privileges.
Camping at Wroxham
A 2 night mid week or weekend ticket includes a 10 metre square pitch on a designated camping area with new toilet and shower facilities. Unlimited daytime access to the Junior Farm and Fun Park. Evening access Tuesday or Friday until 9pm and VIP evening access Wednesday or Saturday night until 8pm. Now here’s the exciting bit. You can expect a packed events calendar with the events team. The hosts are camping with us in their Host yurt. Activities include circus workshops and a 1 hour circus show in the evening. Pitches don’t have electricity and are for tents only but with the Courtyard Cafe is opening from 8am (2 hours before it opens to the general public) for breakfast, so i wont need my usual Coleman stove.
Camping Facilities
Theres wifi in the camping field, to keep you up to date with my insta stories, lol. You can order food and drink to your pitch and even upgrade to a fire pit. Dogs welcome! maximum 2 per pitch, but please note dogs are unable to venture onto the Junior Farm for the safety of farm animals. Pitches are for up to 6 people and 1 tent with lots of space. You must book up now to take advantage of their early bird offer and avoid disappointment. I’m predicting Norfolk will be very busy this summer, especially holiday homes and with The Norfolk broads on your doorstep why wouldn’t you want to come?
